TAL DEBAUCHE
OVERVIEW
Tal DeBauche has built a diverse litigation practice based on effective communication, skillful execution, and hard work. As an associate at Ware, Jackson, Lee, O’Neill, Smith & Barrow, LLP (formerly Ware, Jackson, Lee & Chambers, LLP) for nearly five years, Mr. DeBauche gained broad experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts throughout Texas:
Represented warehouse owner against a tenant’s $2 million claim for malicious prosecution and theft. After a two-day trial in state district court, the jury rendered a full defense verdict and awarded damages and attorney fees for breach of contract counterclaim.
Represented national homebuilder in a number of disputes, including construction defect litigation, personal injury litigation, and indemnity disputes in state court and arbitration proceedings administered by the American Arbitration Association.
Represented the pastor and directors of a church in defending claims for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, tortious interference, and injunctive relief, obtaining complete dismissal under the Texas Citizen’s Participation Act.
Mr. DeBauche also represents several companies as outside general counsel, providing legal advice and counseling with respect to corporate matters, transactions, and disputes.
Before law school, Mr. DeBauche was a ninth and tenth grade teacher at YES Prep Southwest, a public charter school in Houston. During law school, Mr. DeBauche served as a judicial intern for the Honorable George C. Hanks, Jr., United States Magistrate Court, Southern District of Texas, and the Honorable Marvin P. Isgur, United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Texas, a competitive brief writer for the University of Houston Moot Court Team, and as Chief Notes and Comments Editor of the Houston Law Review.
Mr. DeBauche has two kids, Weston and Evelyn, with his childhood sweetheart and wife, Dava. He is also an avid near-scratch golfer, home cook, and fan of Arsenal Football Club, a London-based soccer outfit.
